Sasuke is/was a child, but he's completely consumed by revenge and constantly hungers for power. Hounded by a literal snakeman. Sasuke was left isolated and alone. Thanks to his brother, he is constantly reminded by his empty home what was taken from him.

Danzo went through the pain staking effort of warping Kabutos memories. Then has his mother kill Kabuto(and ultimately fails). Forcing Kabuto into parricide. Understand that Kabuto did everything right.
Nagato forms the Akatsuki, however relations with Danzo are tossed into Disarray by Danzo. Hanzo murderers his friends . Turning Nagato into a psychotic killer we see by the time Naruto is born.
So his become something of a crazy evil scientist. Extremely inhumane experiments . Kidnapping children and adults alike….like there's at least a few hundred that have starved to death in his many hideouts when he died. Most of these led horrific short lives.
